Any gas can will do. I have two blitz cans and have used them both tremendously. Not a problem and they're very beat up now. They also have an air hole that you can unscrew at the top so they don't thicken when in the holder, and also allow the gasoline to flow out more smoothly.

What jerry can mount are you getting, or is it custom?

I guess my real question is are the polymer cans just as good as the metal cans?? I'm guessing that the polymer cans will not leak like the metal cans? Unless they obviously get punctured....

Both Scepter Plastic cans and NATO Metal cans are the best to use. However there are shortage of the supplies due to some recent federal ban since Jan of 2009. New ones are now hard to come by with paying for the premium pricing.

However you can find old used ones at your local Military surplus stores, and You just have to replace the seal on it for about $5 per seal.

We use plastic all the time in the military but I would not put water in one after it has held fuel.

I am having an offroad trailer built... with a rack for fuel and water. We went with plastic for the gas (and for the water). Seemed easier to work with, no rust issues, and easily replaced if needed.

Not really help with a brand, but I replaced my Army surplus metal gas can with plastic and it's been great. I've always used a plastic can for water, so I can't help there.

I've got two Scepter (plastic) jerry cans...they are great, same ones the military uses. The hardest part will be finding the screw on 'funnel' or you could use a regular funnel and pour in.

As stated, they are HARD to find anymore and you're gonna pay extra for a legit scepter can. They also do not have a lip on the bottom, so you need to make sure your holder will work. I had to purchase brackets for my Or-Fab carrier for them.
