I took down a deer with mine, it prevented it from flying up over the hood. No damage, just some fur. The following week a passenger was killed nearby from a deer coming through the windshield.

my stinger works great on deer. hit two already and no damage at all and was able to drive on :) well one was stuck in the stinger and it took a lil effort to dislodge. they are priceless if you get a good one that is solid steel and welded securely not just a bolt on. the smaller grill guards are more for saving your ass (radiator) if the cable snaps on a winch pull or you smoke some small children in the burbs. might help might not. pretty sure if you hit any big game they are still gonna make in into your grill. they do look cool tho...
