Default Check Hail Damage Behind GRILL

I went thru a hail storm in West Texas about a month ago. The body was fine , but the A/C evaporator in front of the radiator took a BEATING.

Back in 2004 I picked up my new Jeep Liberty (I needed the cargo space) with a sunroof in April. In June, I was driving home and hit a major hairl storm. Quarter size hail down to dime size. Lasted for about a minute but felt like an hour. It stops...I start driving and another burst of hail came (no I didn't drive back into it).

I gothome and looked at my hood....had about 30 "ping" marks.

Hail can be serious stuff.

You bet! Few years ago here in Oklahoma we had one storm come in and I was having some work done on my Ford EXP. Mechanic looks out towards the west, as the radio blares about serious T-storms, and mutters to me, "See that green glow inside that cloud there? That's a serious storm. Real serious."

A few minutes later we could see a helicopter flying between us and that storm and he's making the report on the station we're listening to. "Folks this is one bad storm. We're receiving reports of softball-size hail. You definitely need to take cover. Right now it's over Will Rogers [the airport]. S##t. Where we gonna land this thing?".

We learned later that he landed on the interstate, under an overpass. The storm hit nearby Tinker Air Force Base, where it probably did it's worst damage. After it had passed, eight E-3 AWACS aircraft were severely damaged with holes punched by hail stones through their wings and roto-domes (the big radar dome on top).

Hail most definitely can be serious stuff.

Nope! And due to excessive pucker factor, I lost the ones I had on!
