Right now, this is what my front yard looks like:

There's still loud banging on the roof from the stones as they strike.

This happened to me once. You'd think that the flimsy sheetmetal the hood is made out of would dent like crazy, but I didn't get even one dent. Could be that its so flimsy that it absorbs the impact without denting. Anyway...........good luck. Hope your Jeep's OK.

I cannot imagine your JK not suffering damage...we had a hale storm in August of '07, and one of my neighbor's '07 JK looked like orange peel...my wife's '07 Liberty suffered absolutely nada...good thing I didn't buy my JK until October of '07...sheetmetal on the JK hood is like foil.

About two dozen shallow dimples in the hood. Stupid forecasters: Sent out the hale emergency on cable TV after the storm was already overhead instead of before it started dropping. Too dangerous to go out and throw a blanket on the JK. And, believe it or not, ten minutes later and there are blue skies now overhead. Go figure.

Here's the damage. The inset is some of the hale stones next to a quarter. Lots of larger than golf ball-size hale.

Holy crap..........those are a bit larger than what I experienced. Sorry about your Jeep. On the positive side, maybe you can get you insurance company to buy you a new AEV hood.

OMG....sorry to hear about that happening to your jeep. Least you have pictures to prove what caused it to your insurance company.

Good Luck!

I have a $1,000 deductible, so I'll probably see what those paintless repair places want to fix it. Or maybe I'll just leave it as is.

Sorry Mark. :whoaisme: That really sucks. I know I about had a stroke when a dealer "installed" a small dimple in the rocker panel below the driver's door so I can't imagine how mad I would be about this. FWIW, my local paintless dent guy did a pretty good job on that ding as well as a few shopping cart dings on my wife's Toyota. Good luck.
