Half Door Two Door
I'm considering buying a 2 door X with half-doors. I was hoping to test drive one this weekend, but they are very scarce. In fact I've never seen one in real life.
Are there many out there?

they're a fable, like bigfoot... Some people CLAIM to have seen them, but most of us know, they don't exist
.
Seriously, though, they are out there, but they're rare. Not nearly as common as the older model Wranglers, but they're an option (from the factory). The rest of us have been trying to find aftermarket half doors to add to our jeep...

I just saw a Rubicon for door with the half doors last week. I did a double take to make sure that it was real. I think it is the only one that I have ever seen, other than in the brochure.
I just pretend to have one so the hip eco chicks will dig me.
Actually, I don't think I've seen another half-door JK in the wild. It would be interesting to know what the percentage of half-doors are. I would guess maybe 5% of JK production -- and that's probably high. Most folks don't want to put up with the perceived "hassles" of half doors for daily driver duty.
I've been VERY pleased with the half doors. Yes, it's more work, but the open-air feeling with the top halves off is absolutely worth it to me. Full doors were much too confining. I hate high beltlines in my vehicles! The zippered windows take a bit of getting used to, but the wife gives me lots of practice with those damn $4 Starbucks drive thrus.
Keep hunting for a half door to drive and make sure to drive it with and without the top halves on. It's not a myth, they are out there!
If you find one and buy it, welcome to the cult!

The only thing I didn't like was the road noise from Semi Tires comes in real bad, every thing else is peachy. I plan to get upper sliders for use in the winter though.
Half door unlimited, here I come!!

For the OP, search dealer inventories online, you'll find one. Most likely a dealer with more inventory in stock will have one.

test drove the full doors..didnt like the minimal ledge for my arm..and the window crank bangin my knee...
and its FASTER to pop the top of the door than roll the window down and put it in the pocket below it (intigrated into the door..) and they DO fit in the back cargo area...even with the top down...
pop doors..puttem in the back..unzip back window..but in back..unzip sides..put in back..fold top down and strap it..everything in back secure and doesnt bang around!!

I have a Rubicon with half doors. Love the half doors and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
