Default Hard top removal

I know the make a Hoist-A-Top for removing hard tops, but do they make a hardtop lift that looks more like an engine crane?

Not that I have ever seen. I thought about making a stand to put a hoist on last year but decided agianst it. Now that we have moved the thought has come up agian but this time it is less a movable stand and putting posts in the ground and making a frame to back underneath.

I built a hoist out of 2x4's, foam, a couple straps, and a $13 hand winch. Works great.

I know some one else on here made a hoist out of a harbor frieght engine crane. They added a piece of tube steel to increase its reach and as far as I know, it did work out pretty good. I cant seem to find the thread though it was probably 6 or 7 months ago.

Off road heros had a prototype lift once, but it has disappeared from the website.
