Which Harken Hoist?
So I have finally made up my mind to get the Harken Hoist for my Rubicon Unlimited. For those of you that have one, which one should I get? I see there is a 145# model and a 200# model. I am not sure the exact weight of the hardtop with the freedom panels. I also have Hot Head Headliners installed (I know they don't weigh much). Feels like it would be safer to get the 200# model since it is only $18 more. Thoughts or experiences?

I store the freedom panel elsewhere though. |

I use the 200 model and store my freedom tops on top no problem. Attachment 467218

How high is your ceiling? I've been toying with the idea of getting a Harkin and directing the rope off to the side instead of the traditional back position but wasn't sure it would work. |
FWIW, I almost bought one, then decided to just try $40 worth of hooks and ratchet straps. Glad I did- it's easy and cheap.

I ordered the 200# model. Only a few dollars more for the peace of mind that it will hold the weight. I thought about the ratchet strap idea, but was concerned that you couldn't lower the top as smooth as you could with the hoist. My ceilings are about 8.25' so the Harken seemed like the best hoist to get it close to the ceiling.

That short distance between your top/ceiling mount and the wall is sufficient to raise and lower the top?
