Has anyone else removed the carpet from your JK?
I have a 2016 JK 2 door and when I installed my soft top I had some leaks, I pulled out the front floorboard matt to find the leak, then pulled the other matt out. It looked pretty cool so I left them out, I eventually pulled out the back carpets as well.
After wheeling the factory black carpet is a pain to keep clean, it's much easier now to clean the interior now that it's gone. The rubber floor matts still fit perfectly despite not having those plugs from the carpet.
Has anyone else done this to a newer JK?
It's usually the first comment when someone goes for a ride.

Yeah I did the same thing, a lot of folks did.
I went a step further by removing the little snap anchors for the slush mats from the factory carpet and then I shaved off the back of them so they are flat on the bottom side, used a strong adhesive to stick them to the sheet metal floor of the Jeep where they would have been if the carpet were still there. Now the mats snap in like they are supposed to and even with doors/top off the wind doesn't blow them out.
I also got a roll of wire loom to contain the wires that are exposed when you pull the carpet. Zip tied everything up neatly and out of the way. One of these days I'll probably do some roll-on bedliner in the rear cargo space.
Wouldn't have it any other way. All of the drain plugs are out. Also find it's way easier to sweep dirt and debris into the drain holes than it is to vacuum.
