This has to be a first
First of all, I hope you're not considering paying for a replacement for him, or even feeling guilty about it. I HATE it when somebody is riding in my vehicle and they start fuuken with the dials and radio and such. He should have kept his hands to himself and asked you to turn up the heat if he was cold.
I would not even START to feel guilty about that!
Plus, I'm guessing that most of the momentum of the "meeting" was movement of HIS ARM, rather than the shift lever. But, either way, he should've been keepin' his hands to himself.

I am not feeling guilty at all.....it was just one of those things that happens.....he bought it on Ebay so he might be in an uphill battle for warranty issues......if he wants to be upset at someone he can be upset at NJ Transit for putting the railroad tracks across Bloomfield Ave.
I think that is just the nature of a trans mounted shifter. They are gonna bounce and move with the drivetrain. I know the shifter on my cherokee bounced around alot and so did my fiance's TJ.
Definitely a fake. There's no way the crystal would have even scratched from that kind of impact. I am also damn near positive that Breitlings are not that expensive anyway. I have an IWC Flieger Chronograph (automatic) and my crystal has zero scratches on it in 6 years of every day wearing. Breitlings are too complicated and gaudy in my opinion.
It shouldn't damage anything. It goes wherever the engine and transmission go. It's no different than any other engine and transmission out there. Heck... The previous toyota tacomas with automatics do the same thing, albeit not as pronounced
