HyperTech questions? Please
OK have a SuperChip reprogrammer for my Dodge truck and in the user manual it says REPROGRAM BACK TO STOCK before taking it to dealer for service without an explanation as to why.
So my Question is : in regards to the HyperTech and other similar products. When we reprogram using these units we actually download the factory Chrysler settings (SAVE) into the unit and replace with the "UNIT's" particular performance based program of our choice. So, if we were to inadvertently take the vehicle to the dealer without reprogramming back to stock, what would be the outcome. Is it just that the Service department would see that we used a programmer and use that as an excuse to deny warranty OR is there more to it then that?

The programming that hypertech loads in there is THEIR own program settings and changes if you bring it to the dealer like that they will not be able to check for DTC codes properly or fix anything, as they do not have Hypertechs program.
if you take it in for service and the dealer spikes the computer or resets the computer not knowing it had been reprogrammed then you will lose the hypertech programming and $300 you spent on it and it will be back to stock
But either way it is always better to put it back to stock before it goes to the dealer for anything.
No they can still read it all they want all Hypertec does is change factory settings you cant switch from windows to mac so to speak lol. Its all the same with a bunch of settings changed.
the problem is that the dealer(if they have a clue what they are doing) will knwo that you have modified the ECU and this is a BIG TIME no no as far as the dealer is concerned. this entire vehicle is run by that ecu and if you screw with it and your engine explodes thats on you tghe Moss Magnuson act wont do you any good for an ECU related failure ESPECIALLY in a jk that is so electronic. The point is, if you reset it they will never know
so if your hypertech grenades your engine then you wont have a warranty to fix it. So reset it before you take it in so they dont know and cant deny anything.

Wait a minute......So, if the Hypertech grenades your engine, would you still be ABLE to reset it after the grenade went off...??? I guess what I'm asking, and I don't know the procedure for programming, does the engine have to be running when you program the Hypertech, or does all the programming go on while the engine is turned off, or in this case inoperable???
The engine does not have to be running, you only turn the key to the on position when doing the programming. I asked the rep about that before I bought it.
ONE THING is if you ever have to get towed to dealer and dont have the hypertech with you, you're screwed, I leave mine in my jeep all the time just for that.
