Have seen this referred to as a J8. What is it and where is it made? I would buy one in a heartbeat.

American Expedition Vehicles makes them in their Detroit factory. Google their name and you'll find their website and press release.

I think it's the real deal, frame upgrades, leaf sprung rear, D60, and choice of either the diesel or Hemi (installed by owner or a dealer). There has been a lot of detail about it on the AEV site/forums.

:D:D

I like a whole idea of J8 but the leaf spring? No thanks.:naw:

I looked into the J8 and the 50K price tag is what is estimated with the engine and transmission installed ny a AEV dealer. That said, you get a vehicle that is ready for off road use, with the Dana 60 rear axle and a leaf spring rated at 3000#'s. The catch is it is rated for "off road" use only.
Not sure what the catch was to having it road worthy, but again, the costs were not what I could pay for any off road setup.
Nice though.......:ya:

I just talked to them, its 42,300 for the assembled vehicle and 8500 for either engine and transmission. So its just over 50K for the Jeep J8. Too rich for my blood, but if I were to buy a JK and have a HEMI put in it I would be at 50K without the bigger brakes, frame axles and other stuff. Probably not that bad a deal if you need a HEMI powered Jeep or better yet one with a diesel. You can register them for street use too.
