"First Jeep J8 Military Vehicle Rolls Off the Line in Egypt"

Rolls off the line in Egypt?

I'm glad they are back in the military business but crap like that is exactly why I and many other folks have no compassion for the demise of the domestic auto industry. They want me to bail them out with my tax dollars yet they are going to build products for our own military in Egypt. I'm so glad we can help out the Middle East.

Rant off.

Guys, I could be way off base here but those vehicles are being built for use by the Egyptian and possibly other Arab/MidEast militaries...they won't be used by the US military. We still have the HMMWV and are going to the JLTV. There was a move about five years ago to go back to the cutvee (old Bronco-looking things) for "rear" use and the Dodge Ram and F-150s were looked at. Nothing ever came of those though.

Exactly, these are not for US Military to use. they are being built where they are going to be used, which is actaully a good thing as it saves money and reduces environmental impact by having to ship them via freighter.
