JKU Flip Key i bought off ebay

So i bought this flip key off ebay, had it cut and programmed. Works great actually.
The third button which is blank im assuming is for remote start.
Since my jeep is manual, its pretty much worthless.
Anyone know if this can be programmed to do anything else?

Pretty cool.
Look like my old Jetta key.
Does it use the circuit board out of your original FOB ?

josephlee0923 02-28-2019 09:19 AM

No, there was one that i believed used the old circuit board but didnt like the triangular look and rubber button
this one u have to program using 2 exisiting keys
pretty easy.

I like that so much better than the keys we have. I hate our keys. They could at least make it so the "Jeep" doesn't wear off the backside so easily.

Do you have a link specifically to what you purchase?

Yes please, also interested.

instructions on how to program

1. Insert the first valid key into the ignition switch. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position for at least three seconds, but no longer than 15 seconds. Then, Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position and remove the first key.

2. Insert the second valid key into the ignition switch. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position within 15 seconds. After 10 seconds, a chime will sound. In addition, the Vehicle Security Light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position and remove the second key.

3. Insert the new key into the ignition switch. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position.within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds, a single chime will sound. In addition, the Vehicle Security Light will stop flashing. To indicate that programming is complete, the Vehicle Security Light will turn on again for seconds and then turn off.

The new key is now programmed. The Remote Keyless Entry transmitter will also be programmed during this procedure.

I bought one yesterday too. We'll find out shortly if it works or if we just padded the OP's pocket a bit. :rotflmao2:

I've grown so accustomed to the ugliness, anything different just doesn't look right to me.

For the cost, I'll gamble!

I think I'm from the microgeneration that appreciates switchblade keys. All the functionality without any of the pokey bits in your pocket. If they made a horribly triangular flip key.... I might try that
