im a student so going to 37 would take some effort. i love what i have but you always wanna go a little bigger. for some reason i feel that having 37s means you have a "big boy" jeep.

further im planning on running the rubicon at the end of summer and would like the extra clearance as to avoid body damage. as many say a good driver could take the rubicon on 35s no problem, no damage.... i dont want to find out the hard way that im not a good driver.

Plan works IMO, not having to worry about rain. It seems to me that used softtops are usually cheaper than used hardtops... If you don't have already, definitely budget for C-gussets when you do your gears in prep for those 37s. Cheap insurance...

its a fair comment. its not that im flat out broke its that i would like to ease the expense of 37s, going slowly is just less stressful. if i was to do it all at once then yes i would definitely be as poor as my OP seems to make people think i am. if i did that i would have a sick jeep but spend a hell of a lot of time walking! this way there is money for other hobbies as well. the way i see it is i run topless all summer anyway, want to switch to soft top long term, want to go bigger tire wise for harder trails and would like a little more kick with a re gear. this allows me to accomplish all of these wile still living within my means. im already getting 15 mpg so shooting down to 13 would not kill me.
