Wow, you are lucky. Glad to see a thread from you instead of the number of speculative threads I've seen all over the Jeep boards.

I'm soooo glad you lived to tell this tale! And thank you for all the pics -- it's very educational. I'm sure your scenario will be talked about for years to come! At the very least, it underscores the importance of traveling in a group.

I wonder if the aftermarket is working on an "impact plate" or "diverter plate" to protect against something like this. You could be their spokesman!

Again, I'm very happy you're doing so well considering and thanks so much for sharing! We'll all learn from your experience!

Default Fire wall

First, I am glad you are OK.

Is the fire wall only made of fiberglass. This should be lookded at by DC. You may want to contact them with this information and pictures.

This could happen to somebody on the highway if they ran over a 2x4. metal pipe, tree branch, or some other object. There really should be more protection.

Holy Crap! Glad to here that you are okay. THis really does look like one of those freak accidents that you always hear about but never really believed could happen. This was also posted on several other forums just to let peeps know that these kind of things really do happen.

First and foremost, I am glad you came out with not as serious injuries as what could have been.

That being said, I see you have solved the problem of where to run wires for off road lights and toggle switches.

I am glad you are ok. Where I work, the joking comes immediately after finding out someone is ok, so hopefully you have the same type sense of humor.

Glad you will be ok.

On the good side, not you have a built in "nut vent" in you jeep. That hole will come in handy on those hot summer days. Should direct the air right on them....
