Hello I have a 2013 Jeep jk. The traction control and check engine light turned on. I changed the sensors about 3 months ago and today it did it again. When you turn off Jeep the traction light turns off but check engine is still on. Superchips keeps bringing up this code. I’m thinking about taking it to dealership. And suggestions before I do that. Jeep has 101000 miles

That check engine code is unrelated to traction control. If you've replaced the sensor with a quality sensor then I'd look further up the line to ensure that it doesn't have any breaks in the wire.

For a camshaft position sensor, I'd stick with factory Mopar part.

Were you able to find a solution? I am having the same issue. 2013 JKU 73000 miles. Just had both the rear main seal and the engine oil cooler/filter assembly replaced in the last 2 months.

Now, going uphill on the highway I got the Check Engine Light, Traction Control Light and Jeep goes into limp mode. OBD shows P0369 and no other codes. I pulled over, cleared the code, restarted and the Jeep works as advertised until I go up another hill and the same thing happens. I picked up a replacement Camshaft Position sensor that I am going to try replacing. I have read in other threads that it could be the wiring harness to the sensor or crappy oil.

Update: 5/11/2022: I decided not to replace the camshaft position sensor, I believe it may be a different issue

I also have this problem, replacing cam positioning sensor does not help at all. I have same symptoms with check engine then traction control. I can make it happen faster by jumping on it as soon as it tachs up it faults. I did find all wires going to sensor melted together going from main wire loom to sensor, I have separated wires inspected and cannot find and bare wires. I need wiring schematic so I can figure out how to check all 4 wires going to sensor. This seems like a pretty common problem.

So engine internals is not my strong suit, but I have messed with these cams, phasers, and rockers. My understanding is that these cam phasers are sensitive to the oil pressures which is why the galley drain bolt that sits behind the phaser often becomes an issue if loose. I'm not suggesting this is your issue, but I do believe oil pressures are the reason why we typically see this right after big downshifts and under load at the same time seeing oil pressures jump. The one thing in your situation that certainly doesn't help is apparently melted wires leading to the CPS. That seems very odd. I think folks often want to think it's a faulty sensor, but I think the logic here is usually the sensor is working properly and that is why you're getting the code flagged. Keep in mind that the traction control is just going off once the powertrain code is thrown. On an '12 I guess it's not absurd to think you might be having a phaser issue. It does seem these occasionally get replaced.

Thanks for the replies. So far it’s been over a month, same intermittent issue. I had to drive the Jeep from the Hudson Valley, NY to Fort Drum pulling over several times to reset the code on the interstate only to have it kick again and go into limp mode. If the code kicks and the Jeep sits off
for a short period of time the code will usually clear itself out. Extremely frustrating.

I did do an oil change and replaced the oil with AMSOIL 5W-20 (meets the Chrysler MS-6395 specs) at the recommendation of the local auto parts store, did not correct the problem.

I believe it’s unrelated, but I did find the wiring jacket on the CRANKSHAFT position sensor (Pass. Side/Bank 1/underside of engine) broken but the wires intact. I replaced the wiring harness/plug and the CRANKSHAFT position sensor (I understand that the code is for the CAMSHAFT position sensor, but being that it’s an electrical circuit fault I thought they could be related somehow), no changes still the same issues. Jeep is fine on local roads but at highway speeds and higher Eng RPM / Oil Pressures it kicks the same code.

Im going to drop it off at a local Jeep dealership and see if they have any luck

@mtnmauler: Do you have a picture of which wiring harness was melted? Was it the passenger side camshaft position sensor harness?

Did anyone every figure this out? My 2013 is having the same issue. I have brought it to the shop, they have checked the wiring harnesses, checked the oil pressure while diriving, re-synchronize the cam phasers, updated the ECU, and it is still having issues. I don't want to just tear into the engine for do the oil galley bolts, or replace the phaser, cam, (or the replace the head) or something else unless necessary. I have seen online that these are all potentially the way to fix it. Hopefully there is something else

My problem was my wiring to the sensor Passenger side of engine Bank 1 side, purchased new connector pigtail from Mopar sliced it in all is good for my problem.
