Increasingly stricter emissions and safety standards make engine swapping increasingly expensive, if not almost impossible,. Add to the legality the expense, and it's a double whammy. Best market for vehicles past their prime will be 3rd World countries where the Terminator Salvation look is in vogue.

They can't tell you that you can't do a motor swap, if the engine meets the standards of when the vehicle was produced.
