I just saw this picture from another thread about interior lighting and I noticed that his rear seat uses a different release mechanism than the pull tabs located in the lower back rests of my own jeep (2008 JKUR)

Anybody know what years had this style different than my own? I like it better due to the lack of awkwardness and reaching to pull the tabs on mine sometimes causing me pain due to a previously injury/disability.

A quick search led me to believe it was the 2007 year. But then I saw some 2010 also.

Any info? I would like to start searching for a replacement of my own.

That looks like an older model because of the headrests. My 2007 had and my 2012 have the lower pull strap only.

So was this an option or what? I'm so confused.

Pretty certain all '07s were like that.

The 2012 has the pull lanyard (only word I thought of to describe it), and it's in the middle of the seat. My 2014 has the latch on the top of the rear seat. This is much easier to release the seat than the lanyard.

Thanks Mark. Gonna keep searching to confirm though. And by the sounds of it they went back to this design for '14? I would love to give it a test pull. Hah Perhaps I will stop by a dealership lol. Anyone had both styles yet also? Preference?
