Sure. Anything can be fixed. The insurance company IS gonna total it. you could always buy it back and fix it. Though I don't know why.

That sucks. How'd it happen?

Monty- 08-30-2009 02:45 PM

ya, whats the story? looks like you're lucky to be typing after that.

I'm glad I drove a Jeep and wore my seatbelt. I just got too comfortable driving back from WV and multi-rolled it on I-70 east.:cursing: I'm still able to walk n talk but, I'm a little slower for the time being.

I can post about a dozen more pics if ya'll want.:dontknow2:

crazynova 08-30-2009 03:08 PM

I would say it is totalled. Personally I would not want to rebuild it. I'd just let the insurance co. total it and get a new one. The wrecked one would never be the same if you rebuilt it.

I'd like to see it made into a crawler/trail rig but, I don't think much/if anything is still salvageable....? Still waiting on the adjuster.

SaharaBlackNo1 08-30-2009 03:40 PM

The answer to can it be rebuilt is yes.

The question you really should ask is, should I rebuild it? The answer there is NO. The whole thing is twisted, not a single panel made it out of that unscathed and there's going to be frame damage. Unless you own a shop and can do things like straighten a frame, etc I'd take the check they cut you and move on to version 2.0.

A better way to go for a trail rig IMO would be to find the ever popular 2wd JK used on the cheap and build up from there.

Looking at the carnage I'm glad to hear you're ok, now take everything you learned with the first JK and put it towards making a better 2nd one.

pearl-drum-man 08-30-2009 04:16 PM

Looks horrible, at least you made it out without serious injury!

m(a)ce 08-30-2009 04:54 PM

:eek2:

glad you're alive. and able to move.

geez.

hope you heal fast.

rubious 08-30-2009 04:58 PM

glad to hear your ok. time to get a RUBI

roads in WV can be hell sometimes

metro7100 08-30-2009 06:29 PM

OMG what happened? YOU CANT post those pictures and not tell us what happened. Is everyone ok?
As long as everyone is ok, you can always buy a new Jeep.

He did post a few back...rolled several times on I70....

racinfast002 08-30-2009 07:42 PM

i personally think there is no hope... You can't roll one that hard and not have SERIOUS frame damage

racinfast002 08-30-2009 07:44 PM

look at the scrape marks on the spare and the "middle" of the rear wheel...COOL!

mscedro2 08-30-2009 07:55 PM

Glad you made it safely...nothing more important  . Please post the remaining pics you have. On the two pics...as with everyone else, its a loss :naw: .

09rubicon 08-30-2009 08:05 PM

DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! I am glad to see your alright!!! On a lighter note you need to send the first pic to Spidertrax for anyone that ask if their spacers hold up under stress!!!

eDiveBuddy 08-30-2009 08:33 PM

Glad no one was hurt! Is there still glass left on that mirror?

CIJeep 08-30-2009 09:55 PM

Glad you made it through, that was a rough one. Jeep is tore up pretty bad. Let it go with a huge thank you.

ronjenx 08-31-2009 03:33 AM

The pictures illustrate how well the cage/windshield held up. With all the complaining people do about the quality and reliability of the JK, I think this one came through with some really important features.

JKRINGO 08-31-2009 04:31 AM

Yeah, that puppy is toast for sure. Sounds like you got thru it pretty healthy. Good luck with your mending so you can get back on the saddle.:yup:

ricrac12525 08-31-2009 04:57 AM

toast

That rig is toast, glad to hear you got out of it without any serious damage to yourself. Better luck with the next one:thumbsup:

I'd like to see more pics. Really glad you're OK! The grab handles seem to be OK :dontknow2: :D

where r the pictures?

amff27 08-31-2009 07:31 AM

I am happy to see you made it out ok. Let it go and get a new one. Looks like it held up pretty well.

Carp13 08-31-2009 09:46 AM

thank you all for the well wishes. The insurance company thinks it is a total loss but, won't know till tomorrow. Now that the swelling has gone down some....The docs found a damaged radial cup?? That's the reason I can't straighten my arm all the way and I may have some nerve damage. Fingers are a little cold and feels like pins and needles. Lucky for me that I didn't hit anyone else! It's all still a little spotty in places. I landed on the remaining 2 1/2 tires, came to, unbuckled my seatbelt(No airbag deployment front or side) and exited the jeep via drivers door. Here's the remaining pics.....

HappyCurmudgeon 08-31-2009 10:04 AM

Wow! :eek2:

It really did hold up well and you sure are lucky. I think your JK was trying to buck off that unmatched spare and that is why it rolled :D

Good luck on the recovery...and I agree with everyone...IT IS A TOTAL LOSS! I cannot believe that the airbags did not deploy...at least the side ones...thats not right. :naw:

MileHighJoe 08-31-2009 11:17 AM

whoa! :eek2:

glad your okay man, that looks fierce. Im having second thoughts on the spacers now.

Did you say that the wheel broke while driving which caused you to roll? or did the wheel break after the roll?

crazynova 08-31-2009 11:20 AM

Glad you're okay. Looking at your damage, it is definately totalled. The main tub of the body looks so badly damaged that they'd have to replace the entire thing, slong with both axles, most suspension parts and other body panels. I think it's a safe bet to say it's totalled. On the bright side, if you ever had a regret about buying a X over a Rubicon or the color, now is your chance to fix that. It also looks like your rock rails are unharmed and can be salvaged.

nikbass 08-31-2009 11:38 AM

I'd see if I could grab those spider trax, and the Snorkel if I were you, but other than that I'd say good buy and start looking for a good deal on another.

Good to hear you made it out ok. That's a memory that will keep your eyes open on the road. For sure.

The spidertrax held...The rim broke during the roll.

Lessons learned for that night:
1. don't get to comfortable in the seat
2. always wear shoes
3. always strap down tools and things

I didn't have the tools/jack need to salvage some of the things I wanted...ie snorkel, windshield mounts, side rails or skids. I still have 2 spacers at the house. If I could salvage the 3 still on the jeep. Anyone close to Hagerstown ,MD that's in need of some parts? Insurance adjuster will be there sometime tomorrow.

AZJeeper 08-31-2009 03:54 PM

All you need is a little rubbing compound and $30,000 - it'll be good as new!

BBirish 08-31-2009 04:52 PM

OMG carp, glad to hear you are ok. theres other jk's out there to build:thumbsup:

How come! I am freaking out right now!!!

I hate wearing shoes and especially when driving! I feel also like my feet have way better grip on the pedals than the soles of my shoes. I also get a better feel for the clutch without shoes!!!

You can still drive barefoot....just don't fall asleep barefoot while driving. Ya'll don't wanna see my feet scratches.:what?:

Carp13 09-01-2009 12:05 PM

Update.....Total loss!:badday::giveup: Time to start the hunt....
