Default Rubicon shocks and springs for my sahara

Hi,

I've got the opportunity to pick up some shocks and springs off a 2014 rubicon unlimited for my 08 Sahara unlimited. Is it worth it? Would that give me any lift at all?

Thanks in advance.

Compare the spring rates. Usually you'll get .25 inches every number you increase. The Rubi shocks are nice, not a bad upgrade if its cheap.

Not really. If you had a 2 door, then you might gain some lift if the spring rate is greater on the donor JKU but from JKU to JKU you'd more than likely be trading 18/59's for 18/59's; the same springs resulting in no lift gain, and no performance gain either. The red Rubicon gas shocks are better but check your shocks first.

You will get a better ride, but not much lift as mentioned. The red rubi shocks look awesome though, especially if your jku is red.

I was actually searching for a set of slightly used red rubi shocks.. before Daystar stepped in.. Cause Daystar could have sent just the spacers and left the shocks up to me to find.. I did find several jeepers that had upgraded their shocks.. but I wasn't about to put a set of 30K mile shocks on the jeep.. assuming that was an actuate mileage reference for those shocks.. So yes I was surprised that Daystar sent a full kit which included the shocks..

^This. Depends on what you're starting with.

How so?

The first thing I suggested was that he compare spring rates. A higher (stock) spring rate is a higher (stock) spring rate no matter which way you look at it...

I was agreeing with you. That's what "^This" means. Depends on what coils you start with. Switching out the same coils will gain nothing.

btw, I just checked my wife's 2012 fully loaded Sahara JKU and it has 16/59s. Seems like an odd combo.

Ahh I see. Gotcha. I was reading it as "This depends on what you're starting with" which had me confused. I thought the ^ was just in reference to my post. No foul, no harm.

The "depends on what you're starting with" was for the OP. A further elaboration if you will.
