Stolen tire
Just found out someone stole my frickin tire from my jeep last night. It had a key. Idk how they took it. Now i have to get a new tire and rim. Any ideas on how to prevent this from happening again.

I have read where folks will run a cable through the spare to the tire carrier, but as always, if the ass**** really wants it they will take it. I do think it lowers the risk.

Yup, in today's crazed society you gotta strap/lock everything down. Don't be an "easy" target.
Some of the things I recommend and it keeps/makes things easy on you....
Strattec 7018440 - Strattec? 5/8" Hitch Pin Lock for 93-15 Jeep® Vehicles - Quadratec
Strattec 7018452 - Strattec? 6' BOLT Cable Lock for 93-15 Jeep® Vehicles - Quadratec
Strattec 5922986 - Strattec? Spare Tire Lock for 91-15 Jeep® Vehicles - Quadratec
Strattec 7018460 - Strattec? 1/2" Hitch Pin Lock for 93-15 Jeep® Vehicles - Quadratec
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Amazon.com: Bolt 7018520 Padlock: Automotive
Plus side is everything gets "keyed" to your ignition key. I use the padlocks on my offroad tool box/pelican case. Hitch pins for the hitch and to also lock up the Genright carrier.
Cable locks to tie the spare to my carrier and to tie my hi-lift to my front PSC bumper. Cable locks are wrapped tight so less room to get bolt cutters in.
Additional security and convenience of just keeping everything to 1 key. You lose your ignition key, then you got bigger problems
While you're at it, you might consider locking up your hood as well because you can never discount just how far a D-bag will go. This MOPAR hood lock is expensive, but once again I keep everything down to 1 key...

Not really sure. It came with the jeep when i bought it. Salesmen said its to prevent it from being stolen. It was like a lock on the lugnut. And i have the key inside my jeep incase i ever get a flat i can take the spare out with it. But the thieves must have had their own "key". Meaning that lock was probably generic. Just the tire missing. Nothing else was broken, scratched, or stolen

Craigslist usually has stock wheels/tires out the butt. I'd start there.

unfortunately this is your best anti-theft device.
I mean who would really want one of those on the back.
BTW I lost my key the day before a wheeling trip and went into panic mode and took a pair of vice grips and spun the lock right off. Not as much luck on the wheels on the ground, but I've heard and I believe that all it takes to get the lock off is to over tighten the none locking lugs and the lock lug can be hand spun at that point. Kinda seems pointless to even put a lock on there once you figure that out. Guess it's there just to keep the honest thieves away.
