I am sure I don't understand this but if it is not a reinforcement of the hinge/tailgate then why bother?

Was really counting on this, don't want to have to install the OR-Fab...I'm too scared

I really though it was going to be a lot less expensive

It's a piece of cake to install the or fab. Took me 5 hours on my own. The tf looks like a great product but is not what I was looking for. I wanted to be able to carry ammo cans and a highlift

This kit REPLACES the factory hinges entirely and reinforces the tailgate. The new hinges carry all the weight of the new pieces/tailgate/spare tire.

Wooo yesss My back ordered 5th MTR finally came via UPS last night...took it to get mounted today (had to be done twice because the tire shop mounted it backwards the first time...doh)

Wasnt sure if it would fit on the factory tailgate mount...it was tight but, fits like a glove, barely touching the factory bumper!!! (pictures later) With a 1/4" spacer (maybe $10.00 at pepboys) it wouldn't even touch the bumper. Also, zero sag noted on the tailgate!!

Looks like I will be buying the daystar tailgate bump stops ($14.95 on amazon prime) and the MBRP reinforcement brackets ($29.73 on amazon prime) and I'll run that bitch till it breaks!!!

That's a total of $44.68, leaving me $655.32 to spend on other Jeep goodies!!

So, FYI people...If your running up to a 35" tire you really don't need a "reinforcement" or some high priced aftermarket carrier, just do what ya can with what ya got and save yourself some bucks...IMO

I have Jeepin as a hobbie, kinda have to be thrifty ;o)

Not saying you shouldn't buy the sweet ass TF tailgate thingy, cause it is pretty rad, just giving people options...there is always a better way!

I will admit, I do enjoy stirring the pot...

So does the kit come with a reinforcement for the "tub" (where the hinge mounts to the body) or is the factory body strong enough?
