albeit, its not glamourous by any means... it was a salvage/repair title.
I have a bit of front end damage, but the engine is strong, transmission shifts well and the interior is spotless.
all told... i replaced the CV axles driver and passenger and two new tires.
went to a local junkyard to pick up some trim pieces and a window motor.
All told, I have about 350 invested into repairs and about 4 hours of my time.
1350 for a vehicle that is fuel efficient and reliable... and i still have my JK
ANOTHER BONUS! My insurance actually decreased by insuring a liability only vehicle along with my JK

It would be a 140 mile round trip 5 days per week.
I think I'm going to refinance my current 6.2% for 72 months into a 4.9% for 72 months at the credit union if possible. Lowers the note by about 1/2-3/4 of a tank of gas per month and will lower the total interest paid. I don't plan on going the full 72 months anyway, it's just nice to have the low payment.
I'm going to try to move closer to where I'll be working so that the daily commute is less than 10-15 miles one way. Then it won't really matter.
Wish me luck.

I drive a 95 mirage 60+ miles a day but at 35mpg's i cant complain.
Go ahead sell your JK. Im waiting till gas hit $4 a gallon then ill buy my unlimited. There are so many out there to choose from. Im just looking to find one that has EVERY option i want with say under 5-10k on the odometer.
Ahhh depreciation what a beautiful thing.

Gas around here is $4.20 a gallon. In 2 months I put 5k miles on my JK to the tune of about $1200 in gas.
That just would not do.
I kept my Jeep and bought a new Ford Focus for a daily driver. I'm pleasantly surprised by the 33-40 mpg. Great deal too with $2.5k in rebates.

I traded in a 2004 Honda Civic in January 08 for my Jeep knowing the gas prices were high and were going to get higher. It all depends on how bad you want the Jeep. I cant imagine not owning a Jeep now but hey, the choice is all yours. Someone said earlier the price of gas is a bubble which will eventually pop. That is so true. If you can, just stick it out. Lately I have been taking the train to work when it rains and riding my motorcycle when it doesnt. In all honesty though, its more so I dont put so many useless miles on my Jeep. I use my Jeep for fun now and the bike as my commuter vehicle. Kind of odd, I never thought I would find a car that I liked better than my bike.

I'm relocating. I'll find a job within 15 miles. Shouldn't be hard as a nurse. I have a 2008 Ninja 250 I can use for commuting too.
Worst comes to worst I can commute for a couple of months. I'm not getting rid of the Jeep. Too much fun.

Not to change the subject, but the new Ninja 250's look sweet!!!! I wish they looked like that when I started riding back in 1993. Right now I have an R6 and I am looking at the Ducati 848.

I'm 23, the insurance for an R6 would quickly make me forget about the price of gas!
