Tire pressure with 35 inch tires
#12
Hi guys, I'm still running the stock 245/75R16 Bridgestones on my JK Sport (until I get the lift and 33" tyres), the pressures printed on the door sticker are 35psi. I drop them down to around 25 when off road and obviously notice the more compliant ride. Is 35 too high? would there be any down side to keeping them at around 28-30 for normal road use? thanks

Glad to here of others with the same concerns.
I got my 35" Mickey Thompson ATZ a week ago,the dealer had put 45PSI!!!
Well I can tell you I wasn't sure about the ride for the first week, but now way in hell,I bounced all over the road.I was all over the place even replaced my stock stabilizer with an after market that helped a lot but not enough.
After reading this post I went a aired down to 34PSI each, and already what a difference, feels like stock again.I almost got worried thinking the Jeep was to handle that way.
Well much better and feeling more secure on the road, all I can say is that the dealer was an Off Road Shop that installed the tires,as of so far I think I will be looking for a new Off Road Shop.
Thanks a lot guys lots of help.

I ran my 33x12.50" Boggers at 20-22 psi on my truck. It really depends on the tire. I'd be willing to say that there's not a tire out there, though, that'd require more than about 35psi unless you're over the GVWR for your JK.

JKUR - 35x12.5x18 Toyo Open Country M/T
I'm running Toyo Open Country MTs 35x12.5x18 on my 2014 JKUR with 30lbs on the highway, with a great ride and even wear. I'll air down to 15-20 on the trails. Less than 30lbs and cornering starts to get slushy.
The Toyo MTs are a great tire! The great guys are Les Schwab are always in your corner.
2014 JKU Rubicon in Flame Red (because I'm shy)
4.10 Gear Ratio / Dana44 F+R
ARB F/R bumpers
ARB Diff Covers
ARB Stabilizer
ARB OME 2.5" HD Coil+Shock Lift Kit (yes, I kind of like ARB products!)
Toyo MT 35x12.5x18 with Black Rhino Glamis 18x9s
Warn M8000 w/ Synthetic Line + ProLink Factor55 Thimble
Rugged Industries Dually Pillar Spots + Light Bar
Bushwacker Flat Fender Set
AFe Cold Air Intake
AFe CatBack Hi-Tuck Exhaust
Performance Tuned to 325HP
Mopar Transmission Cooler
RotopaX 2gal fuel packs (2)
Dual-Band CB Radio+Scanner
Upgraded speakers+amp w/ Judas Priest or AC/DC cranked up
YETE Cooler (this thing keeps ice frozen for a week!)
1lb bag of Teriyaki Beef Jerky / Chilled Red Bulls / Gummy Bears (God intended man to dine well)
+ VISA credit card balance that stays fully inflated (Price of happiness)

I'm so glad I found this thread. I just installed a 2.5" lift and 34" Toyo M/T's, and the ride quality was horrible afterward. It almost felt uncontrollable at highway speeds, tires had noticeable vibration, and even the smallest bump was bone-jarring.
The tire installers had them at 38 psi. I lowered them to 30 psi, and the difference is like night and day. It now rides smooth as glass, with less road noise, and handles great.
