I have the same set up I use a 6 inch drop. But the ball should be about 16 off the ground. There is several sites the tell you how to measure. Also be careful with weight distribution in the trailer. If that's off the trailer can sway or difficult to handle at highway speeds.

Me and my wife are planning a road trip to Montana from Illinois this summer. We have a 2014 2door hardtop and plan on renting a uhaul trailer for the trip. The trailer is 900 lbs and we will only be adding a few bags of luggage and 2 cages for our golden retrievers that will be going with. We may bring back somethings from out there but pretty sure I can keep it under 1500 lbs. Just trying to make sure that it will pull ok. Looking for any help. Thanks.

The 2 door should be able to tow 2000 pounds with no problem. You should be fine. I've successfully towed 5000 pounds with my 2012 4-door. Your MPG will surely drop. Maybe down to around 12-13 depending on your speed and wind resistance of the trailer.

I towed an aluminum utility trailer loaded with two 500 lb motorcycles loaded on it down to the Smokey Mountains with my 2012 2dr on 35's and a RK 2.5 lift. I am geared at 4.56, so it actually pulls pretty good up the hills.
Just take it easy, no need to get in too much of a hurry, and remember braking distance will be greatly increased

I have a 2013 four door soft top with manual tranny. Last year I pulled a U-haul car hauler with a 72 Chevy long wheel base pickup on it over a thousand miles from AR to NC without any problems. I just took my time and went down through Atlanta to avoid the mountains taking I-40.. I'm not saying the thing about U-haul not renting to a soft top is an urban legend, but I've rented from them 4 times with this soft top and they've never said a word..
