What grade of fuel do you use?
Hey all. Question for you. What grade of fuel do you run in your rig? And do you get decent mileage?
I use regular, and the mileage is weak. I get 13.5 lt/ 100 km for city driving. Just wondering if mid grade or premeum would make a difference. Thanks in advance. Oh ya, 4400 km on the jeep so far, not quite broken in yet. Driving a 2010 mountain edition w/ rbi tires and shocks, that probably adds to the craptastic mileage. |
I use regular (87 octane), my jeep has 19,000 miles, bone stock with the tiny 225 tires and I'm 90% city driving. Getting 15.6 mpg avg (hand calculated). The more I use the freeway the more it goes up. Auto, 3.73 gears.
can't wait to get larger tires and see this number plummet  |
87 here as well, but Chevron or Shell only

Good to know that our reg grade is the same octain as in the States.

I use Regular grade, per the manual. Mileage is around 18.5-19 consistently, even with the congo cage.

"regular" 87 octane in every vehicle I've ever owned (with the exception of a 1.8T VW Jetta (was a real Lemon)).
I've run 89 before to get the advantage of the injector cleaner but didn't see any improvement in economy. The octane rating should only affect your economy if you are getting poor ignition due to low or too high octane. Oh - and it's a Jeep. I get GREAT gas mileage, for a Jeep (2011, Auto 3.73 gears, with the 31" stock Duelers that came on the Sahara). I've been getting between 13.9 and 15 around town in the cold weather, and as much as 19.2 with all highway driving. I expect an improvement as the miles rack up and the weather warms in the spring but not much. I always hand calculate my mileage and fill to a full tank every time. The trip computer tends to be optimistic most of the time. |
87 octane at Sunoco or Hess. The electronic readout says I get around 16MPG in town. 18 MPG on the Interstate trips. I have 52,000 miles on it.

I run 85 octane (reg. here in Utah) I average 16.7 mixed 75 city 25 highway.
more octane only slightly raises the mileage. Does give a little more power in the hills. |
I run 87 octane regular in my 2dr rubi 6sp and get 10.8 L / 100km on the hiway and usually between 13 and 14 in town. It is not much different than my 08 X with 3:21 gears.

cheapest gas I can find goes into my JK. Usually Thornton or BP is the cheapest where I"m at. I don't believe in the gas hype. I once had a 93' Pontiac Grand Am that had 287,000 miles on her (bought her with 6 miles) and never put anything but the cheapest gas I could find in her. Engine, trans, fuel injectors, fuel pump etc were all original. Only did normal maintenance.
