What's the latest on the chirping/squeeking?

Default What's the latest on the chirping/squeeking?

Haven't been on the forum in a while, so I apologize for not keeping up with this and I did do some searching....

My stupid high pitched squeel is driving me nuts.

My squeel is CONSTANT....when I depress the clutch a quarter of an inch it goes away. I took it into the dealer and they replaced the throw out bearing, and frankly its worse than ever.

Now, not only does it still chirp, but occasionally when letting out the clutch I get this horrible "clatter". What the hell is that?

Brother

There's a TSB now, I think.

What does the TSB say? You should've bought an automatic, ha?

Default Chirp

The TSB replaces the clutch disc. I had it done two months ago and no chirp.

Never ceases to amaze me how people on this site know how to fix stuff, but the guys at the jeep place don't. I remember reading on this forum a few months ago that someone had the chirping and his dealer replaced the throwout bearing, and lo and behold that's what I get. Guess i will have to walk in there with the TSB in my hand and tape it to the windshield.

I think a lot of it is luck of the draw on the mechanic. I have printed out TSBs in the past on other vehicles and it usually fixed the issue. I guess it is the engineer in me. You've got the love the Internet

There is a TSB for the chirp= clutch disk and the squeak= throw out bearing.

I had bot sounds and both fixed. It has been good to go for 5k miles now.

Omega Man,

I have had the chirp for some months now, and have hesitated to take it in...you said it was solved for you by having the TSB work done for the chirp= clutch disk (TSB 06-004-07)?

Thanks,

glwood6

All you can do is try I guess. I had the throwout bearing replaced and its not any better. I'll give it one more try and just live with it. Now my clutch pedal squeeks every time I shift.

I have the constant squeek and shift chirp as well. "Waiting for parts to come in". In response to the post above me, we bought a brand new jeep, we should not have to live with the sounds!
