Wheel help!

Guys,

I'm another rookie looking for help... I'm looking to get a set of new wheels in tires for my jk (2011 Sahara). I like the fuel boosts and some of the KMC XD products. Also looking for a more aggressive tire that looks nasty but can handle a lot of highway travel. I noticed most people are going with the 17" as opposed to 18". Any reason for that?

Keep in mind this is my DD and I have roughly a 45 min drive to and from work. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks

17 vs 18 due to a couple things. A, that's the size of the stock Rubi wheels (and a lot of sport seem to come with 17s). So ppl don't have to fork out the cost of wheels and tires all at once. B, 17 is a cheaper tire than the same tire in 18s. Just like 15s are less than 17s.

Can't really help you on the tire selection, but I'm sure some ppl will chime in.

Aggressive tread and longevity are not two traits you generally find in one tire.
There are some good guys in your area you might want to look up that run some pretty built up JK's and wheel often if you are looking for some people to learn from. Look up miner and jkjake

Personally I like the look of less wheel more tire. 18's look fine to me (just an opinion) with 37's, but the excessive cost of tires for 18's is just dumb. Depending on your tire size and plans, I think 16's are one of the most ideal sizes. I myself run 15's on 35's

I can say that the toyo mts I had on my dodge 1/2 ton had 65,000 miles on em and prob could have got another 8-10k but I do construction and one day counted 11 staples and brad nails in one tire so called it a day with those (I later pulled all the nails and staples and no leaks :-P) then ran some bfg km2s and had 20,000 and sold the truck. They look like I could get 50k out of em. Have 16k on my nittos and look to go around 50k with em. Food for thought is my bro has 35" falken wildpeaks and they are quite wear great and haven't been stopped yet. We were climping a 45 degree loose muddy climb and came to a 3' rock ledge where I climbed right up and he had to bump twice to make it but they still did it
