Anyone have any idea? I have been told in 2017 0r 2018? Any one have any real scoop?

If they go the same way they have been its on the year ending in 7 and im pretty sure i saw somewhere it is 2017

I spoke with a guy on the plane today back from Shanghai tgat owns a sub contract auto company. He builds cars for many of the big boys and makes parts for others. For example, he currently makes frames and sheet metal for the jk among others for chrysler, bmw, GM. He told me that the diesel was in discussion but there was definately going to be aluminum added to the jk. Not aluminum body panels, but things like engine compartment, mounts, And bracings. He also stated no IFS in the wrangler. sent from my work leash

It will more than likely get a new "J" designation as well. I have seen a JL designation around, but don't know for sure.

The YJ started in 1987, the TJ started in 1997, the JK started in 2007, so if history repeats itself the new Wrangler will start in 2017

Jeep. ....... Except TJL was a user creation. As are JKU, etc.

The TJ actually came out in 1996. I know because I bought one. 4cyl, 5spd, dark green, half doors, tan top.
Wish I still had it ! There was no 1996 YJ, the TJ called a 1997 in the spring of 1996 .

True, the YJ was released in 2006, and a 2007 model. I owned one of those 1997 TJs , that were released in 1996, as well. I suspect the 2017 release of the new Wrangler will also occur a year early, in 2016, as a 2017 model.
