will this damage my jeep

I am picking up my unlimited next week which is 4 hrs away. Ive heard your supposed to vary the speed during the first so many miles. Will constant 65-75mph damage the engine?

:yup: I was told only city driving for the first 500 miles but idk what you could do yo avoid it in that situation. I was also told to keep it under 55 MPH

I wouldn't worry about it. They had to drive mine from Philly to Baltimore, so it had over 110 miles on it when I picked it up, and I doubt they drove 55 or under the whole way. It's been fine so far.

Im just a paranoid freak when it comes to my first new vehicle :bleh: As long as you dont drag race it for the first 3000 miles yours probably will last as long as mine or longer

I have been told that unless it is a high performance vehicle, there is no real break in anymore.

I would not drive it very hard but the highway speed will not affect it. I also would not use cruise control.

BTW JPWV, what happened with your pricing issue?

I was told to vary the RPM's a great deal. They didn't say anything about 55 mph.

08UnliitedSahara,

I tried to negotiate the two advertising charges off but they wouldnt budge. I ended uppayingFreiend and Family $26,111 which is 1% below invoice + 75 bucks vs. the msrp of 27,703.

I had to drive over 500 miles to get mine back home. Haven't seen any problems yet sitting at about 4500 miles. The jeep had like 75 miles on it when I picked it up (not too sure abou that). As long as you don't drive crazy, you will be fine.

I bought mine about 50 miles from where i live and i had to go on to a major interstate to get it home. I was going around 80 for a good part of the drive and I've had it for 6months now without a single problem other then the throw out bearing tsb

Cool... seems fair.

I am jealous that you are going to have yours. I cannot wait until mine is finally in my driveway!!
