Default Would you buy a salvage titled JK? (Fresh water flood)

Looking at a used JK. It has a salvage title due to flooding. Water reached floor shifter level, did not make it's way into engine/electrics. They replaced airbag module and carpet. They claim it runs great and no other known issues. Would you take a chance?

I have no problem buying salvaged titles myself, but I'd always steer clear of a flood vehicle. Just too many unknown quantities. It's better to never even look at them least you try to talk yourself in to it being a screamin' deal.

Hrm..... I'm skeptical of flood damaged vehicles only for the fact that I don't trust what folks say (like the water only got to the shifter level).

That said, I wish I would have started with a flood damage JKU. I would have gutted it and then did something like this.

I would only consider a flood damaged vehicle if I had plans to replace EVERYTHING. Planning on a crazy build, sure, you are going to replace most everything anyways.

Depends on what you plan to do with it...daily drive it, make a trail rig, fix it and flip it. But for the right price I'd buy it.

Also, I thought I read somewhere once that the computer modules are sealed and waterproof but don't quote me on that...if that is true I'd definitely have no problem buying a flood JK

I'd buy it if you are looking at doing a crazy build!

What is the price and other details? Would need to be a very very steep discount and even then I would be hesitant. I would not beleive their claims about the water level.

A friend was looking for one for their high school son-they we’re watching for ones that had been in south Texas because of all the flooding from the hurricane last year. If you do buy flood title, have to know the risks you are taking. Friends that lived down there that lost vehicles talked about mold growth from flooding in places they didn’t expect after the floods.
