Default Doran Loop Gatekeeper - Calico

Modestoperandi and I did the Doran Loop Trail in Calico yesterday. Started with a run up the Gatekeeper. Here are a few photos:





It really is a beautiful place:



Yes, the boulders are about half as high as the Jeep:



Finally got through the tough spot that leaves your right rear hanging in the air:



Got the right rear and all fours back on the ground:



Yeah, OK, I wimped out and winched some:



Finally, the last ledge to get up:



Yes, that's my blood on the rim - don't ask:



I should have listened to the sign:

OK. The lesson to be learned from the blood on the rim is this: when you stack rocks, remember to remove your finger!

Yeah, the finger is intact - thanks for asking. Really didn't even notice that it was split open until I noticed that my hand was slipping off the steering wheel.
