A nice desert spring in the fall...

I'm not much of a photographer, and take very few pics. Photography seems to get in the way of enjoying the moment -- But I sure like pics later. My wife and I (along with a few good Jeep friends during part of the time) spent the better part of October in Eastern Oregon, Nevada, and California -- And this was my favorite place.
Attachment 661230 Attachment 661231 Large coveys of birds that looked like chuckars were on the ground near the spring, and a couple very large (well fed) hawks occasionally swooped down on them. There was lots of rabbit "evidence" but we only saw a couple of them, as well as one coyote prowling nearby. Desert springs are often dry most of the time, or perhaps just some mud with reeds and dense brush. Of course, a few springs are well known and popular, but it's rare to find a pristine little desert spring in the middle of nowhere -- This spring is near the Funeral and Grapevine mountains, there was no name shown on our map. |
Nice find! Did you take a sip?
