Thumbs up Project-JK Summer Sierra Trek 2007 Pics

Hey everybody, I just wanted to share some pics from our Friday the 13th run up into the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountians. Specifically, we did a run up to Wheeler Ridge in the morning and then did a sunset run up to the Laurel Lakes where we finished up the day with great BBQ burgers and hotdogs complements of the JeepCacher family!!!

I'd also like to thank TrailBud, his son Ryan, doojer, doojette and their son Nick for joining us for this event and for making it as great as it really was!

Anyway, here's a shot of TrailBud testing out his recently installed Full Traction 3" Ultimate Lift...

Here's doojer getting a little 3-wheeling action in...

Lunchtime in the Wheeler Ridge basin...

Me making my way back down the trail...

Here's JeepCacher flexing his way down the trail...

Here we are back on the Sand Canyon Trail looking for yet another pair of doojer's sunglasses....

Okay, here we are at the start of the Laurel Lakes Trail getting ready to head up for our sunset run and BBQ...

Posing for a group shot about half way up the mountain...

Shot of the beautiful valley along the way...

Making our way up the trail...

Shot of the trail ahead of us and what we will be working back down in the dark...

The sun saying good night to us...

Shot from the island in the upper Laurel Lakes...

The JeepCacher's serving up BBQ burgers and hotdogs to all of us...

Default Bonus Round

Okay, on Saturday the 14th, the doojer's decided to join us for one last bonus run and so we headed up to Mono Lake and then up to the 11,000 ft. high Kavanaugh Ridge. Anyway, here are a few pics from this trip...

Shot of Mono Lake looking towards Conway Summit...

Mono Lake tuffa towers...

Close up shot of the friendly brine flies that carpet the shoreline at Mono Lake...

Taking a quick stop to skip some rocks at the un-named lake along the way up to the Kavanaugh Ridge...

Shot of us at the top of the Kavanaugh Ridge looking west...

If you look carefully, you can see us parked at the base of Dunderburg Peak...

View from the ridge top...

Flowers in bloom in an otherwise harsh alien environment...

Ridgetop shot looking the other direction...

Playing on the Dunderburg Peak glacier...

Just amazing - seems like such an expansive area to drive. I also can't help but notice (again) how nice the JK looks with the doors, top, and the frames all off. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Oh, and it just seems so similar to the drive I just did on the DC beltway this morning...

Oh no!

Is that a melting glacier I see? We're doomed. Doomed, I tell you!

BTW- the sky is falling, the sky is falling!
