Day 11
Me and my daughter were up at 5am to eat breakfast and catch the 6am shuttle to hike Angel's Landing. I strongly advise catching the 1st shuttle of the day to do this hike. And it will still be crowded, but not too crazy.
Turkey strutting in the road at the shuttle stop
We are going up there!
Looking back down where we came from
Walter's Wiggles looking down
My daughter up on the Wiggles
Its a long way down!
About to start the chains

Gulp!!! We are way up here!
Headed down. Going down was a lot more scary than climbing up.

Day 11 continues...
Still going down.
Going down the Wiggles.
After getting back to camp, we packed up and headed east toward Colorado again. We saw some bighorn sheep leaving Zion.
And a quick stop at 4 Corners just as they were closing. They close at 6:50 per the sign at the road.

Inside Sun Temple
Sun Temple. When I was here close to 40 years ago, you were allowed to crawl on and in Sun Temple. Not anymore.
The museum and visitor center at Mesa Verde were the best we visited on this trip. The exhibits were very informative and enjoyable.
I'm a bow hunter so...I took pictures of arrows and points.
After leaving Mesa Verde we headed toward my aunts cabin in Marble. And there was some snow!
A quick stop in Telluride because google maps took us real close. I will be back here when I can run Black Bear Pass.
View from the upstairs deck of the cabin.
View from the end of the driveway.

Day 13...
The last day of vacation before we spend 2 days driving back to Mississippi. I hate the end of vacations!
Aspens in the back yard of the cabin.
Taking the drive to Crystal Mill. We knew the road to Crystal was not cleared and open, but we wanted to see how far we could get.
Lizard Lake
An old mining cabin
My girls enjoying Colorado!
Well, this is a Jeep forum.

We made it this far before...
an avalanche blocked the road,
and almost the entire valley.
It was amazing to see the avalanche site, that is something you don't see everyday. and never in Mississippi. After turning around we had lunch at Slow Groovin BBQ in Marble. Not bad!
After lunch, the wife wanted to go to Aspen, because, she just did. so we went. And we saw this off the side of the road between Marble and Carbondale.
And so ends the vacation, except for the drive home starting the next morning. We did stop in Leadville so I could get me a Melenzana hoodie. Then a stop for the night in Borger, TX and on to the house for a round trip grand total of 4977.0 miles. We all had such a great time on this trip. It was every bit as good as I was hoping. And even more beautiful. We saw enough at our stops to not feel rushed, but left enough to want to come back. We covered 9 states, 7 National Parks, visited 1 National Monument and drove through another(Grand Staircase Escalante, which I must come back and explore) and enjoyed I don't know how many national forests. And after reliving this trip through this trip report I guess all that's left is planning next years trip! Utah again? 2 weeks in Colorado? Yellowstone, Tetons, and Glacier? Or maybe west coast? I cant wait!!!
