Default Utah/Wyoming border toward Flaming Gorge

I-80 is the normal way to get from Salt Lake to Evanston and Flaming Gorge so naturally I wanted to find another way. I noticed there was a road that went along the southwestern corner of Wyoming that was just a hop and a skip from the freeway. Figured it was a good place to visit. Turns out there's a monument there.

We took a small Jeep trail the rest of the way. Major puddles of melting snowpack. Streams swelled, deep mud everywhere... But its so damn pretty.

About seven miles into it we ran into a fallen tree blocking the trail. Heavy winds and soggy ground was the probable cause. Turn around? No way.

Used the winch, moved the damn thing out of the path.

Pulled it just enough to pass to the right.

Would you believe I had to do this a second time just a mile down the trail? Wife was pretty pissed, didn't take pics that time.

Saw a heard of elk, drove through a stream up to the bottom of the Jeep's doors. Had one angry wife because what should have taken 3 hours took 6. But it was worth it and I would not have taken another path. Sometimes the journey is better than the destination.

We finally made it to camp. The KOA at Manila Utah, near the Flaming Gorge reservoir. Very muddy Jeep.

Like usual, the Utah weather was unpredictable... Hail. Lots of damn hail.

Very nice, well other than the hail.

We started at Coalville and took a small road up toward the corner of Wyoming.
