Why in the hell are you putting 15.5" wide tires on the jeep?

I think he said so he doesn't sink in the sand and mud.

Thanks, I missed that in the book. If floatation is needed so bad then why a 20" wheel. Do you deflate your tires when in mud and sand?

I do like the thought process that you have, I do not have the stock tires as I purchased this used last year. I do like the prospect of Toyo 38s, I am not ruling out 40s. I like the look of the 20" wheels on larger tires. On 36s, not as much.

I know it is long winded and i do have thick skin. Where I spend most of my time, I do need the wider tires which are not available on 17 or 18" wheels. I have worked out the fitment issue which was essentially the first concern I had.

5 wheels and tires. About 10,000 miles left on tires. Wheels alone are over $not far off the asking price.

15.5" - That relates more to the mall crawler aspect. I like the looks and i do not have the on-board compressor to deflate and inflate - yet!

i do not have the on-board compressor - yet. I may go on and off the property several times a day (convenient location). it very well could be overkill. I have just seen neighbors stuck too many times even before I had my Jeep. The area is a flood plain and what you see on the surface may not be what is 3" below it.

This thread is so hard to read the way that you've structured the post and all the responses. Are you saying that you are not airing down when on sand and in the mud because you don't have a compressor yet? If not, that needs to be your starting point, cuz you can't wheel effectively fully inflated. The whole thought process behind "needing" 15.5" wheels is all silly to me. You think you can't wheel in and and mud on 13.5" tires cuz you'll just sink? Look at around at how many people are running 15.5" tires.....there aren't many.

Anyhow, happy building.
