Shock mounting questions

I got new Skyjacker shocks. The box says the rears can be mounted shaft up or down, advantages or disadvantages? Also came with boots, use them or not, advantages or disadvantages?

Shafts down for better clearance. No boots in your area as they will hold in mud and grime. If you were in the dry desert regions put the boots on if you want.

Does road salt bother the shafts?

you will not have a choice which way to mount them as they only bolt on one way.

Not true. The rears can be flipped, fronts cannot.

not with out modification they can't. But yes I guess if you modify them they can by flipping the bar pin

prolonged exposure to salt will corrode the shafts but keeping your rig clean will go a long way to keeping the rust monster away. The JK will rust bad if you don't keep it clean.

No mod needed. My shocks came without the poly bushings in the ends. They were in a bag. So I can put the top fork (bar pin) mount in either end.
