Default Stock wheels vs aftermarket wheels and tire wear?

I am wanting to upgrade my tires to a 315/70/17 and was wondering what tire issues I might have by mounting these larger tires on the factory 17x7.5 rims vs on a 17x9 wheel. I know a 315/70/17 will mount on the 17x7.5 but will there be any long term adverse effects to the tires?

Will the 315/70/17 mounted on a 17x7.5 have a tendency to wear out earlier or wear unevenly when compared to being mounted on a 17x8 or even a 17x9 rim?

Any other tire issues when that size is mounted on a factory rim?

Thanks!

Wheel spacer/adapters. Verify that your shop will mount that size tire on a rim that is narrower than the tire mfg's spec. Chalk test to make sure you are getting a good contact patch.

I know I'll need the spacers. I've got that covered already with my 285/70/17s.

My question pertains more to tire wear on thinner vs a wider wheel and road wear as opposed to mounting them on the Jeep.

a wheel with a good offset can replace your need for spacers

A tire mounted on a wheel that is to narrow can cause you some issues.
Most common is the belts inside the tires busting from the way they are forced to flex.
Wear would be mostly on the center tread because the whole tread is being forced to convex due to the narrow wheel.
The sizes your Taking about aren't extreme but I'd still get wider wheels. Looks funny with that size of stock wheels.

I have 315/70/17 Duratracs mounted on my factory wheels for 45,000 miles now. Put on at 36k, now at 81k. I still have plenty of life left. One of the main things with this setup will be tire inflation. Probably somewhere in the mid to high 20's on PSI. There's a chalk test thread somewhere. Look it up. Also I have 5. I rotate every 4,000 miles.

As mentioned a few times, you need to make sure the tires have a good contact patch. Leave them at the 40 or 50 psi the tire shop will inflate them to, and you'll wear out the center of the tread. Lower the psi and run the test until they have the full tread width contacting the pavement. This psi might be lower than what you would use with wider rims.
