Tires for daily commute

Hi all, I have a 2013 Sport Unlimited. It's all stock. I use it for daily commute only. With 44,000 miles, it's time to replace the tires that came with it.

They are 255/75/17.

Looking for a better ride if possible.

Thanks,
Tony D

I suggest you go talk to one of our sponsoring tire vendors. You at least want a C load range rating not higher. Better ride always means it wears out quicker.

You'll be happy with duratracs. Many on here are happy with them for a good all around tire that has a mildly agressive look. Good road manners and low noise.

What do you have in there now, CrapALLYear SRA's ? Only thing good from those is their weight. 37lbs or so. If you want to keep ther weight in check, keep your MPG's more or less the same but gain all weather traction check the Continental Terrian Contact AT's. They're not an aggressive AT so they won't kill your MPG, zero noise and are great in rain/snow on street/highway and they're only 40lbs in the same stock 255/75/17 size. P rated as well in that size so it's a nice commuter tire that will last you longer than SRA's, $10 more than SRA's with a lot more benefits.

Have fun.

Thanks, the Jeep has original tires. I just checked, they do say Wrangler 113 - I'm pretty just that's the same as SRA.

rsmwrangler: Thanks for your suggestion - "If you want to keep ther weight in check, keep your MPG's more or less the same but gain all weather traction check the Continental Terrian Contact AT's. Problem is my local tire source doesn't carry Continental. I'll ask if they can get them.

rob-engineer - My local tire guy does have Duratracs. They're the "115 S". However, I'd like something less aggressive.

Lots of decent choices out there. Over the years for DD on-road and light off-road purposes I've gone with Falken Wildpeaks, Toyo Open Country AT2, and I'm looking at their new AT3. In my experience, the AT2s have good road manners and are relatively quiet.

Thanks again,

I usually deal with CJ Tires. I don't see they carry the Falken or Toyo brands either. When I call to ask about the Continentals, I'll ask about these also.

I know you said you would like something less aggressive than the duratrac, but they are worth looking into, mine is a daily driver, 60 miles a day, the duratrac’s are doing great

Hi Dat, I have included the Duratrac in my list of tires to look into. Thanks,

Any thoughts on the Michelin Defender LTX M/S? https://tires.bjs.com/tires/view/774...m-s-255-75r17/
