On my 11 JKU I went with Mamba MR1 rims and Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 LT285/75/17 tires. I've been VERY happy with the performance of these tires and rims. Tires have 16,780 miles with negligible tire wear. On trails near my cabin in Northern Michigan they've been fantastic and their snow performance is great with very little road noise if any.

I would say stick with an all terrain style tire, as mud terrain would just be too much for the scenario you're describing (my opinion, obviously). I would also recommend figuring out where you want to go with your rig, build wise. For instance; I went with a 17" wheel because I could see myself adding some mods in the future that wouldn't work with a smaller than 17" wheel (like big brake kit, some drag links, etc.). Make sure you have a plan for the big picture (as close as you can get it, obviously) before purchasing the wheels. The tires will always change, but you will probably have the wheels for a long time.

Well let's face it, I live on a budget with small amounts of money put into a savings account monthly. Keeping the stock rims is probably going to be the most likely option. I don't plan on doing many mods. On my list right now are the trunk box (in the mail now!), new head lights, a winch, and probably a new bumper (unless I can find one that will mount to the stock bumper, which I like the look of). Tires are high on the list but having to spend additional money for spacers/lift kits, gear ratios, etc.... I can just not afford. I had a '93 YJ that I loved because if I broke it there was no sense in crying and I was mechanically inclined enough to get it running eventually. This is not the case at all anymore with my '12...

How are you getting 18 mpg with 35s? I can't get better than 17 in my 2012 JKURubi with 4.10 gears. Think the gears make that big of a difference?

The lift and tires is still fairly new to me. But now I get about 17mpg avg. As far as gears go, I'm sure you'd be getting better mpg if you had 3.73 w/ your stock rubi tires. I was getting 21mpg when I was stock. But if you plan going w/ 35's the 4.10's are perfect.

i would just put a set of rubicon tires on it, aggressive but reasonably quiet, its not rediculous pricewise and u can usually but a set of slightly used ones .
