I haven't been in the Jeep scene since I flipped my 1972 CJ-5 end over end 3x. We turned it into a swamp buggy and later gave it to a buddy.

Anyway, I just picked up a 2017 JKU Big Bear Package for the wife to daily drive. It won't ever see serious off roading. I may be a little pre-mature, since the Jeep only has 2500 miles on it, but I'm researching options for new tires. I did buy new wheels and tires and 4.10 gears for the brand new Mustang I got her in 2013. I had the new hoops and gears before the new car even arrived. - so I do off the wall things....

The Jeep is completely stock (I did throw on some steps for my 5'4" wife) with the 17x7.5 wheels and 265/70/17 K02's with 3.73 gears. I don't want to replace the wheels, nor will I run spacers.

What would the group suggest as the largest tire I could run? What is the smallest lift I could put on it to gain a bit of clearance while needing the least amount of other modifications?

Since you want to keep the OEM wheels but don't want to run wheel spacers, I'd just add a leveling kit. Maybe go up to a 285/70-17 tire but you'll have to decide if that's enough difference to justify the cost.

You can run 33s on it without a spacer or lift and no rubbing. Perhaps a 34 since you're saying it won't ever be off road.

So it looks like the stock 265/70/17's are about 32" and the 285's would be about 33". Prices are similar as well.

When I ran 265 70 17s they rubbed on the swaybar pretty bad...

The 265/70/17's are the factory size. I'll check out how much room there is when I get a chance, especially near the sway bar.

I've had the 265 and the 285's in stock configuration. The 265's weren't an issue and that's where I got my best gas mileage. The 285's do rub the sway bar at full lock, like when you're cutting in you to that last parking spot or doing a super tight U turn.

I currently run 285s on my 2012 JK stock height and the tires rub the swab bar when going for full lock.
