Auto transmission cooler install
A big thankyou to the other write up's. It helped me out a lot!
I'm kinda shooting into the dark here as this is the first time I've done anything with an auto transmission. Seeing as how I'm towing more than I ever though I would, I decided to install a cooler. Plus I tow my M416 everytime we go camping and am now worried about it since the recent recall issue.
The brown truck showed up today. This is what I purchased. I still need to buy some wire, connectors, and toggle switch but, I can just get those at my local auto place. I also purchased some 3/8" line for another project but will be using it for the new transmission lines.
Summit Racing supplied the fan, cooler, and gauge.
Part #'s
fan=16507
cooler=70268
gauge=80212
price plus shipping for these is $180.80
The 3/8" line was purchased from Lawson Products for something like 4 bucks.
line= 12060
I want to mount the cooler away from the radiator for cleaning issues and I purchased the fan for on trail use. It'll be operated with a toggle switch so I can turn it off if going in deep water. The gauge will be my monitor.

I got home and started my install. I didn't finish because I currently have no garage and it was dark and cold. I'll finish up tomorrow.
I took the grill off and assembled the fan to the cooler. Found the mounting spot I wanted then reassembled everything to check fit. Then I and started running wire. I also flipped the fan blades around to make this a pusher fan.

I had to drill two holes in the cooler to mount the fan.

The hardest part of this install was working with no garage and minimum tools. I envy all who do this!
The other part was hooking up the gauge. I decided to put the probe in the top line before the cooler. Making that first cut into the line was hard for me. I felt as I was disabling a bomb and didn't want to cut the wrong wire. I took the clip off the two lines and it made it much easier to cut the line.
Ended up mounting my gauge on the dash

and my toggle for the fan

While I was at it I removed the insulation under my hood. I always hate cleaning that thing and it looks like crap now so, goodbye. I also noticed my positive battery post was horrible looking! I'm still on the oem battery. I guess it's time for a new one

I mounted it as far to the right as possible. It's about a inch from the face of the condenser coil. I was also worried about being offroad going up steep grades at 2 mph and is the only reason for the fan. Plus, it looks cool
I know it's overkill but WTH.
Thanks for the suggestion.

The trans cooler is a nice add on, but if you're gonna mount the cooler right in the center of your grill I'd lose the fan. There is no need.
If you are going to mount it out of direct air flow, then Id go with a fan.
