DayStar dash panel mod
With regard to the panel not fitting... I've put one in a friend's 2010. Fit fine. Trick with his (vs my 08) was to engage the front, tilt it towards you about 60 degrees and push. It slipped below the "lip" I think you're referring to and then tilt the rear back down to engage the clips. Worked for me.
Hey, I thought it might we a worthwhile addition to this thread to add the part number for the clips used to secure the dash top bezel and the Daystar upper dash panel in place. I know the instructions for the Daystar say to remove the clips from the dash bezel, but you can also go to a Jeep dealership and order the part number 6505660AA instead.
This will save you the trouble of removing, and the risk of damaging or losing, the ones in the bezel. Plus, should you ever decide to remove the Daystar and return to the dash bezel, you can do so easily.
I've also provided a thread link below which shows background information on finding and verifying the interchangeability of this part.

Hope this is useful.

Great mod, I should really pick one of these up. Evidently DayStar did not test out their own design, otherwise these mods wouldn't be necessary. I can't believe they didn't at least put some kind of fence around the tray area.
