There is a really long thread on here about this mod...just search Grill Mod. The adhesive WILL fail 99% of the time. The consensus is to remove the adhesive tape from the blocks. Even if you put glue on the tape when mounting, they still seem to fail. You can soak it in goop off or something like that or just peel it off. I just peeled 'em off on mine. Then I used Loctite epoxy to mount them on the grill. I put some on the bottoms then put a bead around the edges. These things are NOT coming off. I used the plastic gutter gaurd. Looks good and way easier to work with. I will be modifying mine this weekend for the mopar hood lock.

Finally re-installed my grill sections tonight. The mounting blocks seem rock solid now. Let's hope this is the last time I have to mess with that again!

Wait a couple more months and your squares will come off your sticky pads. Mine have started. My sticky pads are still glued down to the grill, but the 3M backing hasn't stayed to the plastic.

I would suggest when time comes to redo it for you, scrape off the 3M and put your glue directly to the plastic.
Never saw this response but I went to touch up my plasti job on the grill and ended up respraying it entirely. When I removed it one of the blocks was as u mentioned separated plastic from the adhesive strip. So u are 100% correct. I'll give it another 4-6 months and I'll redo it where I pull all the adhesive off and just glue the plastic squares down. The materials aren't expensive enough to not do it a couple of times anyways lol.

Today I showed my grill mod to a co-worker. Her husband has a yellow 2 door Wrangler. She said she really liked how it looked. I told her to ask her husband if he'd be interested in doing it and I can either help him installed it or give him all the info needed. Hopefully I'll be able to help another Jeep owner out!

I used a sliding chop saw to cut reach section to length. I didn't cut them to width though.

Snapped a couple pics this afternoon:

Due to tons of rain the past couple days she's a little dirty but I thought I'd show the final results.

Joined the club today. I think it not only helps protect but finishes the front of the Jeep off. Also took advantage of having the marker light out to black them out.
