door off mirror solution
This is my EXTREMELY cheap mirror fix for taking the doors off. Since I dont like low mirrors I went with something high enough for me to see. Passenger side to come shortly..
Exhaust manifold stud I had in the tool box. Nut with taper with washer with taper ,factory plastic washer, mirror from parts store. Done. I am goin to paint the mirror satin black as I hate the chrome look. I am also goin to find a metal mirror as this one is plastic and cheap.
The stud was right thread for the windshield bolt but I had to retap the mirror to accept the coarse thread on the other end of the stud.

That stud goes in as far as the factory bolt. I gave it a shoulder test after you mentioned that and at worst case the stud (being stainless) would bend before any damage would be done. Plus the Jeep will be kept muddy enough so that people will stay clear when walking by in a lot.
