Default Haynes or chiltons?

Hey all,

New to the "work on my own vehicle" thing. Which manual is better? Haynes or chiltons?

Thanks for the input.

Although I don't have one for my jk ( Cause its pretty new ) I always preferred chiton in the past. I think there's more info in it. For the things that may not be in chilton you could probably find on this forum. ( like taking your dash apart )

Do they make them for JKs yet?

I used to use Haynes for my CJs. That were ok, but sometimes assumed you knew more than actually did.

Well the question about if they make them for jK yet is a definitive yes. Not specific, and its on my office desk, so the years I don't have, but it includes years of TJ and YJ too. It goes to 2011, thinking from 1986?

I got it as a gift so I won't turn it away, but if the other was that much better, I'd pick up the other as a complimentary resource.

FoodDude: do you have the Chilton's or Hayne's? Your post isn't too clear on that.

As far as I know neither one make a JK specific manual.

In years past I would get both as one would typically cover something the other one didn't

So sorry. The one I have is Haynes, 1988-2011.

I don't have a Chilton's for my JK, but on past vehicles, Chilton's was not very thorough/helpful for me most of if not all the time.
