Hella Superton Horn Set
It seems every time we (my very handy father-in-law and me) install something on this Jeep, something comes up to screw up the plan -- the horns were no exception. :-) The plan was to remove the front grill and mount the horns on the square bar in front of the radiator. Well, since adding the AEV bumper and Warn 9.5si winch, the grill doesn't come off anymore. :-) So, I tied off the top like this, and it gave me just enough room to slide in a drill.

We used use some 2x2" 90 deg steel pieces (3" wide) to mount the horn. You have to be careful when drilling the square tubing for the bracket -- drill a little forward because underneath, towards the back, there's another piece of tubing that runs there. :-) Also, make sure you drill the holes on either side of the clips for the grill. To minimize air restrictions for the radiator, we mounted them in each corner.

You can mount the horn relay (it comes with the Hella horn set) were the OEM horn mounts.

Simpy unplug the OEM horn, and use the existing connectors on the relay. Then run a positive wire from from the battery to the relay, and another positive from the relay to the horns. You should also run a ground wire from the battery to the horns. There's a pamphlet included with the horns that suggests different wiring methods (adding a switch and keeping the OEM horn, for example), but this one worked well for me.
The installed horns are not very visible, especially after painting the red cage flat black. I'm definately satisfied with the finished look AND the sound. They are very loud -- probably as loud as you'll get without going to air horns.

I was a little worried about the 'horn on door lock' feature since I'm unable to disabled it (I'll have to visit the dealer - yuck), but it's really not that bad. The horns are very directional, so most of the sound is generated forward, and the door lock honk is so short, I don't think they have much time to generate their 'full sound'. The door lock honk is definately louder, but not that much.

It's odd that others haven't reported this problem. I'm certainly not the only one with an AEV bumper and winch. Maybe the 9.5si is 'fatter' than the 9.5ti (the more popular choice)? Hm.
Thanks,
