Hey everyone decided I wanted a hood mount for my jk. I read up and looked at countless mounts and decided why pay over 100 bucks for a mount when I can make for under 15

Parts needed:
2 pieces of 3" long 1/4" flatbar
2 pieces of 3" long 1" round tube
4 pieces of hood bolts:M8x1.25x50
2 pieces of 1/2"x4.5" long bolts
2 pieces of 1/2" wing nuts
4 pieces of 1/2" washer
4 pieces of some sort of bushing

Part one: Weld the 3" tube in the middle of the 3" flat bar(it will look like a "T".

Part 2: Drill a 1/2" hole in the middle of the flat bar it will be inside the round tube. Measure you hood hinge bolts and drill the holes on both sides of the flat bar with the corresponding measurement of the hinge.

Part 3: Place half inch bolt through the middle and put washer on top of the round tube. Remove stock hood bolts and place bushings over the hood holes. Using your m8 bolts place through the flat bar and through the bushings into the stock hood hinge, tighten down.

Part 4: Place hi lift jack on top of brackets(be careful not to scratch hood) place washers on top of 1/2" bolt and place wing nut on, tighten down.

Sorry the write up isn't very descriptive I decided to do the write up after I did everything. Any questions feel free to ask. I will post other pictures this weekend if requested.

IMPORTANT: The washer nozzle has to be re-aimed/modified to spray windshield without hitting jack, still have yet to do it.

Very nice! The only part in confused on is, how did you secure the bolt for the wingnut? Did you thread the tube, use and anchoring adhesive or possibly weld? Thanks in advance .

You can practically do whatever you want in that case. Welding it would be ideal!

Just a closer look at what I did. The 1" hydraulic hose is temporary until I track down bushings I like(looking for bushings off a shock post it would work perfectly).

Place the jack between the two washers and tighten it down using the wingnut to secure it.

Nice!

Been looking to buy a hood mount for my Hi Lift, but was also thinking it'd be pretty easy to make one. I had thought about cutting a few pieces of old motorcycle tire tube to fit under the mounting plate instead of a bushing.

Did you use a bushing between the shaft and underside of the jack to dampen vibration/stress on the shaft from the jack during spirited offroad runs?

Thanks for the write up and pics.

Hey and thanks. As for tire tube I see no issue, as long a you have some sort of a bushing between to reduce any damage to the hinges. I personally did not put bushing in between the mount and jack because everything fits perfectly tight and flush as long as you give er a good turn while tightening it you should have no issues.

I live in canada. Last thing I bought off eBay cost 30 bucks then I got slammed with 65 bucks for shipping after haha and besides I had all material kickin around and built it for free practically. Figured I'd share it. Some people would rather build some would rather buy, to each there own just my .02
