Home-Brew Molle Seat "cover"
I wanted to add some molle gear to my Jeep, to hold misc gear and keep it from flying out when the doors and top are off.
I plan on attaching my Camelbac, some pouches etc etc.
I looked at the $100 Smittybilt seat covers and didn't like a couple of things. First were the reports of bad fit, second was that the molle gear was not removable (at least not without detaching each pouch individually).
I shopped around but they are the only game in town for Jeep gear.
Searching eBay led me to Airsoft gear and that led me to a molle Armor Plate carrier (vest) that looked promising. @ $30, I thought it was worth a shot.
The vest separates into two halves and had assorted straps and buckles for adjusting size etc.
Back
Front
Each side had a velcro flap at the bottom for inserting armor.
I cut both halves along that fold in the flap and flipped the front part upside down. I sewed them together so the shape was similar to the shape of my seat back:
I used a couple of QD Hooks and a bit of black webbing to create a way to attach the top to my headrest supports
And scavenged the webbing and plastic QD buckles to create hold-downs that attach to the lower seat frame. They are even adjustable.
And here is how it looks installed.
It is nice and tight, and even tighter when I move the seat back to its customary position.
The drag handle from the original vest is now a carry handle for when I want to take the whole thing out. I just have to detach one hook up top and two QD buckles down below and out it comes.
Now to find some pouches to put on it!

I liked it so much I went to eBay to find something like that. I guess I'm not finding the deal you found. The best deal I can find is $38.50 + 11.90 shipping.

Perhaps i can "acquire" a spare outer vest to do this to my JK. hmmmmmm where are all the forgetful privates when you need them to be misplacing stuff....
(The above is purely for conversation, I in no way condone the "acquiring" of peoples gear)

I got mine from airsoftgi.com and paid $12 shipping.
By the time I buy the extra pouches I need (I have a couple and I already have a Camelbak) I will probably equal or exceed SMittybilt's price.... but have something I like.
